24th March 2015 | Melland High School

On Wednesday 18th March, the H and O groups went to the University of Manchester as part of British Science Week 2015. The students attended a science fair, visiting approximately 20 different STEM stands, a workshop led by a PhD student and a 45-min guest lecture, delivered by one of the university  academics on “What is in our blood and urine?”

The students really enjoyed themselves and were able to learn all sorts of things, the students particularly enjoyed Robotics, rates of reactions in metals and learning about nuclear power and the ways in which the world is trying to use greener energy. Some students were able to have a full body scan to then create a 3d model of themselves.
