The BBC School News Report was a huge success last week, with our dedicated news team creating a fantastic report as well as the whole school joining in activities where they actively seek out reliable news and report it to their peers. Hundreds of schools took part in the annual News Day, simultaneously creating video, audio and text-based news reports, and publishing them on their school websites, to which the BBC links on their map to which you can also view.
BBC School Report gave our young people the chance to make their own news reports for a real audience. 4C and LG3&4 worked really hard to create reports on Bloxels, Work Experience and the new school mascot. They planned and conducted as well as recorded interviews using cameras and iPads.
As part of the process of being news ready the students visited Media City and participated in a variety of workshops with professionals and tried brand new technology. They also had a motivational speech from BBC morning News presenters Louise Minchin and Dan Walker. A BBC Radio 5 Live producer came in to school on two occasions to help students develop their journalistic skills to become School Reporters. The whole experience was incredible.
I think you will agree that the students have created a fantastic report and will look forward to more great media projects in the last term.
