Confidence in the Kitchen

A shining star! This term we have been delivering an exciting developing independence module with LG3. We have been focusing on developing cooking skills and kitchen competence by using a range of ingredients and cooking resources to make our own meals! One student in particular has really stood out as having the skills, drive and determination to become a really good cook! Shakil has shown a real enthusiasm and a good understanding of how to prepare food, he is working at a high level and developing his independence weekly, a real example to everyone. Well done Shakil and all of LG3!

We recently had a visit from Vicki Hamilton the North West branch Operations Officer of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. She came in to verify the work that pupils from the V Group have done for their Bronze award.

we are glad to announce that all of the pupils involved have achieved their Bronze award. Congratulations to them all.

KS4 students ‘Explore’ Arts Award

KS4 Option students have been accessing the Arts Award, ‘Explore’. To take part in the award pupils have been studying the work of LS Lowry and have been keeping individual logs of their experiences so far.

Participating in a range of activities including; research, the exploration of paints, chalk, pencil, pastels and animation, the pupils have managed to make a lot of progress in such a short space of time.

One group have been creating small pieces of art work and reflecting on the experiences. The second group have been animating famous pieces Lowry created using both Photoshop and Final Cut in the Multimedia Studio with Mr Morgan.

The pupils will be visiting the Lowry Theatre very soon to see his works more closely and will begin to combine their work to share their findings with others. So far the pupils have not only learnt about Lowry and different forms of art but have also shown great resilience and passion in order to try new things and explore a variety of areas.

Keep an eye out for the fantastic work produced and follow Twitter for regular updates and progress. #Melland2020 #MellandLowry
