Uniform

At Melland High School our uniform for pupils is simple and intended to be comfortable but smart. School uniform identifies students as belonging to our school and enables them to feel part of our school community.

The correct uniform is important in establishing the right atmosphere for learning and we want students to take pride in their appearance.

Following on from our consultation with parents/carers and students, we’ve decided to implement the following changes to our school uniform policy:

  • Replacement of red polo shirt with white polo shirt
  • Discontinuation of school blazer and school tie
  • Introduction of navy zipped fleece

All other uniform items remain the same, including PE kit.

We now offer the choice of two uniforms dependent on what you feel is appropriate for your son/daughter.

Option 1:

  • Navy blue zipped fleece
  • White polo shirt with collar and embroidered badge
  • Black trousers – not jeans or Black/Navy skirt
  • Plain black sensible shoes or trainers

Option 2:

  • Navy blue sweatshirt with embroidered Melland High School badge
  • White polo shirt with collar and embroidered badge
  • Black trousers – not jeans or Black/Navy skirt
  • Plain black sensible shoes or trainers

You can also purchase unbranded items in school colours (white/navy) from a range of supermarkets.

There will be a phased rollout of this change to uniform. This means that we do not expect you to buy new uniform immediately. Instead, when you need to buy new uniform, you should buy items that comply with the updated policy.
