Rick Gleeson PSHCE co-ordinator and Lynn Wilkinson parent/carer staff liaison, who alongside members of The Melland Parent/Carer Working Party organised a fantastic coffee morning this week. Despite the adverse weather conditions the event was really well attended by lots of resilient parents and carers.
Mr Gleeson talked to parents and carers about the PSHCE and Relationships and Sex Education curriculum, which is delivered in collaboration with Manchester Healthy Schools. Mrs Barnett shared some information about the Evidence for Learning App and the new ‘Equals’ semi-formal curriculum that is being trialled by Melland staff. Lynn shared the Healthy Schools ‘iMatter’ curriculum resources from 6th Form and made everyone feel welcome as well as making sure there was plenty of healthy refreshments to keep them going. BFET Educational Psychologist Dr Adam Rumble ran a 1-1 parent/carer drop in and everyone who attended reported that it was a really enjoyable and informative.
