First Melland parent/carer coffee morning of the year ‘A Roaring Success’

A big Melland thank you to our wonderful parents and carers who turned up in great numbers for our first parent/carer coffee morning of the year.

Mrs Barnett introduced new and existing parents and carers to school staff and our health team including Ruth Miller our Speech and Language Therapist, Daryl Wagstaff our Physiotherapist, our Heads of Department and senior leadership team. In addition Ann our Head of catering showed parents/carers examples of our menus and discussed school dinners and Adam Rumble our BFET TaSS Team Educational Psychologist audited needs for input and support at future coffee mornings and promoted parent/carer CEP Drop ins.

Mrs Barnett thanked parents/carers for all their work towards the summer festival during which we raised almost £300 for our trampoline fund, a special thank you goes to Ghazala and the ladies who ran the ‘Taste of Asia’ stall.

Paula Duffy from Manchester City Council promoted adoption and fostering, Cath Stone informed parents about ‘Boost’ health and well-being workshops in Gorton and Free health checks at Gorton Library.

The main event was an ‘inspirational’ talk from Bernie from Talbot House and Bev one of the volunteers. Parents and carers fedback that their talk was most helpful and informative.
