A speed networking event at Melland High School allowed students in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 put a group of professionals through their paces, asking them a series of questions about their jobs and working life. Questions about how they got in to their career and what skills they use in their day to day role were at the centre of the conversations, but the event also allowed the students to improve their employability skills, especially communication. The students who took part, overwhelmingly enjoyed the experience, and got to find out about the guests interesting and varying jobs.
The participants were John Bradley (Department of Work & Pensions), Katie James (Manchester University NHS Trust), Lucinda Harvey (UK Theatre) and Laura Stringer (Ofsted). This is the second time Melland has run a speed networking event building on the success of the initial event last year.
